121 CANDIDATES CONFIRMED AT ANYINASUSO ON EASTER SUNDAY

 
In a vibrant and spirit-filled Easter Sunday celebration, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Goaso, on Easter Sunday, 20th April 2025, administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 121 candidates at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Anyinasuso.
The candidates, drawn from all the outstations of the parish, gathered at the main church for this significant spiritual milestone, marking their full initiation into the Catholic faith.The Easter Mass was concelebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Edward Marcellinus Tangviel.
Before the Mass, Bishop Atuahene paid a courtesy call on the chief of Anyinasuso and his elders. The visit highlighted the cordial relationship between the Church and traditional authority. The chief warmly received the bishop and expressed appreciation for the Church’s contributions to the community, especially in the areas of moral upbringing and education. The chief later joined the faithful at the church to participate fully in the Easter liturgy, adding a special touch of community unity and respect to the occasion.
In his homily, Bishop Atuahene focused on witnessing as Christians, urging the newly confirmed and the entire congregation to live out their faith boldly in their daily lives. He emphasized that Christians must be light and salt in society, living lives that attract others to Christ.
Bishop Atuahene also used the occasion to call for peace in the Ahafo Region. Citing recent happenings in the area, he stressed the need for dialogue, forgiveness, and unity among all communities. He reminded the faithful that peace is a responsibility shared by everyone, and that Christians especially must be ambassadors of reconciliation and harmony.
Fr. Tangviel expressed heartfelt appreciation to the bishop for his pastoral care and to all catechists and parents who supported the candidates throughout their formation. The celebration featured uplifting music, vibrant participation, and a profound sense of unity as the entire parish came together to celebrate faith, life, and renewal.
St. Anthony of Padua Parish is located in Anyinasuso, a town in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region, Ghana.
