The meeting was graced by the presence of the Vicar General, Msgr. Matthew Kwaku Addai; the Director of Caritas Goaso, Very Rev. Fr. Nicholas Afriyie; the Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi.
Very Rev. Fr. Nicholas Afriyie delivered a heartfelt welcome address to all present. He acknowledged the dedication of the parish representatives and applauded the active participation of parishes that have embraced the mission of Caritas Goaso.
In his fraternal message to the gathering, Msgr. Matthew Addai, speaking on behalf of the Bishop of Goaso, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, extended a warm welcome to all participants and commended their commitment to charitable outreach. He underscored the essential role of Caritas in the evangelizing mission of the Church, noting that the Church does not only preach the Word but also lives it through love, service, and acts of mercy.
Citing Acts of the Apostles 6:1–7, Msgr. Addai reflected on the example of the early Christian community, which appointed helpers to assist the Apostles in their ministry—an early model of the Church’s charitable structure. He likened Caritas to this vital support system in the life of the Church, emphasizing that “charity is not an option, but a duty” for Christians.
He encouraged all parish representatives to continue their good works with zeal and urged parishes that have not yet established Caritas initiatives to do so. He stressed that the work of Caritas is a sacred call to serve Christ in the poor and vulnerable, and through it, the glory of God is made manifest in the community. Msgr. Addai concluded his address by thanking all members for their sacrifices and dedication, urging them to become ambassadors of Caritas in their parishes and communities.
Rev. Fr. Nicholas Afriyie, in closing remarks, expressed sincere gratitude to the Vicar General, Msgr. Matthew Addai, for his inspirational words and unwavering support for the work of Caritas Goaso. He called on all participants to internalize the message delivered and to continue spreading the vision and mission of Caritas across the Diocese.
The meeting was marked by a spirit of unity, dedication, and renewed commitment to the social mission of the Church in the Diocese of Goaso. As Caritas Goaso continues to grow, the Diocese remains steadfast in its resolve to promote love in action and to respond to the needs of the vulnerable in line with the Gospel.
