Over 1,500 vibrant young Catholics from across the Goaso Diocese gathered at St. Peter’s Parish, Kenyasi No. II, from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27, 2025, for the highly anticipated Biannual Diocesan Youth Rally. The four-day spiritual event was held under the theme: "Jubilee Year: A Time to Proclaim Christ — The Role of the Youth in the Goaso Diocese."
The rally was officially opened by the Bishop of Goaso, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, who encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in their faith and make a meaningful impact in society. The Bishop's presence at the opening ceremony served as a strong sign of support and pastoral closeness to the young people of the diocese.
The gathering began with a powerful keynote address by the Diocesan Youth Chaplain and Communications Director, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi. In his message, he called on the youth to remain hopeful and innovative in proclaiming Christ in today’s world shaped by technology and social media. He challenged participants to be missionaries of their time — embracing digital spaces, yet rooted in prayer, truth, and faith.
The program featured a rich blend of spiritual, educational, and recreational activities. Each day began with Holy Mass and moments of adoration and confession. A major highlight was the evangelization float through the principal streets of Kenyasi, where participants joyfully proclaimed Christ through song and public witness. Workshops, catechesis sessions, and a Church-based quiz fostered formation, while a lively cultural night and talent showcase celebrated diversity and creativity. Sporting activities, including football, volleyball, sack race, and board games, added fun and strengthened fraternity among the youth.
The rally reached its spiritual climax on Sunday with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass led by Very Rev. Fr. Martin Yaw Adjei, Acting Vice Principal of St. John of God College of Health and Diocesan Vocations Director. In his homily, he stressed the need for youth to uphold integrity, especially in avoiding examination malpractice. He also urged them to deepen their prayer lives and to imitate Christ and the saints in daily living.
During the closing ceremony, Fr. Martin Yaw Adjei was specially honoured for his nine years of dedicated service as the Diocesan Youth Chaplain. The recognition highlighted his selfless leadership, spiritual guidance, and inspiring mentorship which have shaped the lives of many young Catholics in the diocese over the years.
The concelebrated Mass included Rev. Fr. Samuel Osei Kuffour, Parish Priest of Kenyasi; Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi, Rev. Fr. Ernest Ntiamoah (associate priests), and Rev. Fr. George Atta Agyei Opoku. The event drew the presence of dignitaries including traditional rulers, government representatives, and clergy from various deaneries, all of whom commended the youth for their active faith and commitment.
The rally concluded with the presentation of certificates and a call to action for the youth to rise and shine as witnesses of the Gospel in their communities, schools, and online spaces.
