The Catholic Diocese of Goaso was filled with joy and thanksgiving on Saturday, 20th September 2025, as three deacons were ordained to the sacred priesthood at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Kenyasi No. 2.
The ordination Mass was presided over by the Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, Bishop of Goaso, who, through the laying on of hands and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, conferred priestly ordination on:
-
Rev. Louis Barnie Agyemang
-
Rev. Sampson Badu
-
Rev. George Atta Opoku Agyei
In his homily, Bishop Atuahene urged the new priests to embrace a life of humility, prayer, and dedicated service. He reminded them that the priesthood is not a privilege but a mission of sacrificial love and fidelity to Christ and His Church. He also called on them to rely on God for strength in challenging moments, assuring them that divine grace will sustain them in their ministry.
The joyful liturgy drew together clergy, religious, lay faithful, family, and friends from across the Diocese. The celebration was further enriched by the presence of visitors from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (USA), traditional leaders, and political representatives, all of whom came to share in this sacred moment. Their presence highlighted the deep respect and communal support accorded to the Church’s mission.
The atmosphere was filled with prayer, music, and dance as choirs and cultural groups led the faithful in lifting hearts and voices to God. The ordination also stood as a visible sign of the Diocese’s growth and the fruitfulness of vocations nurtured within the local Church.
With this ordination, the total number of priests serving in the Catholic Diocese of Goaso now stands at 83, a blessing that strengthens the Diocese’s pastoral mission.
Quoting the Psalmist, “You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek” (Psalm 110:4), the Diocese entrusts the ministry of the newly ordained to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the intercession of St. Peter, patron of the parish.
As they begin their priestly journey, the Diocese invites all the faithful to keep these new priests in prayer, that their ministry may bear lasting fruit for the glory of God and the service of His people.
