The St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society in the Goaso Diocese joyfully celebrated its 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) with a four-day program held from Thursday, 9th October to Sunday, 12th October 2025, at the St. Joseph College of Education, Bechem. The grand Thanksgiving Mass, which climaxed the celebration, was held at the St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Bechem, and was presided over by the Bishop of the Goaso Diocese, Most Rev. Peter K. Atuahene.
The jubilee brought together members from across the diocese and beyond to thank God for His faithfulness and to renew their commitment to the spirituality of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, affectionately known as “The Little Flower.” The celebration was filled with prayer, formation, and joyful thanksgiving for twenty-five years of grace, growth, and service in the life of the Church.
In his homily, Most Rev. Peter K. Atuahene centered his message on appreciation and thankfulness, reminding the faithful that gratitude is the hallmark of true Christian discipleship. He urged members to cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving in all circumstances — to God, the Church, and one another. The Bishop praised the society for its vibrant faith and active contribution to the Church’s mission and encouraged members to continue walking in the “Little Way” of St. Thérèse — a path of humility, simplicity, and total trust in God.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Obaapanin Rose Adwoa Deku, 10th International President; Obaapanin Monica Addai, International Past President; Obaapanin Felicia Brago, International Past President; Op Mary Akyerɛfi, International Auditor; Op Georgina Addo Tawia, International Financial Secretary; and Op Regina Awuah Gyau, Goaso Diocesan President.
Present also were the Vicar General of the Goaso Diocese, Monsignor Matthew Addai, and several priests, including Rev. Fr. Elisha Manu, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Parish, Bechem, and Spiritual Director of the Society; Rev. Fr. Israel Boadi, Rev. Fr. Joaking Bonsu, and Rev. Fr. Daniel Owusu. Their presence and participation added beauty and solemnity to the celebration.
Representatives from the Sunyani Diocese, Techiman Diocese, and the Archdiocese of Cape Coast were also in attendance, demonstrating the strong fraternity and unity that exist among the various dioceses.
In her address, Op Regina Awuah Gyau, the Diocesan President, expressed deep gratitude to the Bishop, priests, religious, and all members for their support throughout the years. She reflected on the society’s humble beginnings in the year 2000 and its remarkable growth in promoting prayer, missionary zeal, and devotion to the Little Flower.
The four-day celebration featured a series of activities all aimed at deepening the members’ faith, fellowship, and empowerment. Special citations were presented to pioneer and deceased members in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice.
In the closing remarks by Obaapanin Rose Adwoa Deku, commended the Goaso Diocesan branch for its active participation, discipline, and unity. She encouraged members to remain steadfast in faith, love, and humility, and to continue spreading the spirituality of St. Thérèse in their parishes and communities.
