As part of this year’s Lenten charity outreach, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the Catholic Diocese of Goaso brought hope and joy to pupils of the School for the Deaf in Bechem, Ahafo Region on Wednesday, 4th March, 2026.The delegation was led by the Diocesan Director of PMS, Rev. Fr. Luke Patrick Effah Gyau, and included the Parish Priest of Bechem, Fr. Elisha Manu, Sr. Gloria Prempeh RVM, some students of St. Vincent School, Bechem, and members of the Missionary Childhood Association in the parish.
On behalf of the Diocese and under the pastoral guidance of the Bishop of Goaso, Most. Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, the team presented assorted items to the school. The donation included food supplies and toiletries to support the daily needs of the pupils and staff.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school community, the Principal, Mr. Armstrong Adu Boakye, expressed profound gratitude to the Diocese and the Missionary Childhood Association for their generosity. He noted that such acts of love and solidarity not only provide material assistance but also affirm the dignity and worth of the children. He assured the delegation that the items would be put to good use for the benefit of the pupils.
In his remarks, Rev. Fr. Luke Patrick Effah Gyau emphasized that Lent is a sacred season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. He encouraged the children of the Missionary Childhood Association to see charity not merely as giving from abundance, but as sharing in love and sacrifice. He reiterated that the outreach reflects the missionary spirit of the Church — reaching out to the vulnerable and making Christ’s compassion visible.
The visit was marked by warm interaction between the delegation and the pupils, creating moments of joy and fraternity. The presence of the students from St. Vincent School further strengthened the spirit of solidarity among young people within the Diocese.
This charitable gesture forms part of the Lenten activities of the Missionary Childhood Association in the Diocese of Goaso, aimed at instilling in children the values of generosity, empathy, and missionary zeal.
