BISHOP ATUAHENE URGES PRIESTS TO REMAIN STEADFAST IN THEIR CALLING AT 2026 CHRISM MASS

Under the solemn beauty of Holy Week, the cathedral came alive on 31st March 2026 as priests and faithful from across the diocese gathered for the Chrism Mass—a celebration rich in meaning and unity.

At the heart of the liturgy stood the bishop, surrounded by his priests, a powerful sign of the Church’s communion. As the Mass progressed, a deeply moving moment unfolded: the renewal of priestly promises. With sincerity and conviction, the priests reaffirmed their commitment to serve God and His people in faithfulness and unity.

In his homily, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene offered words of encouragement to his priests. He urged them to remain steadfast in their calling, to serve with humility and dedication, and to be true witnesses of Christ in a world that longs for hope and guidance. He reminded them that their ministry is not merely a duty, but a sacred vocation—one that demands love, sacrifice, and unwavering trust in God.

The liturgy then reached its central highlight—the blessing of the holy oils. The Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism were solemnly consecrated. These oils, though simple in appearance, would carry the grace of God into the lives of the faithful throughout the year—bringing healing, strength, and sanctification through the sacraments.

As the fragrance of the Sacred Chrism filled the cathedral, it became a gentle reminder that all the faithful share in the mission of Christ, the Anointed One.

The Chrism Mass was not just a ceremony; it was a profound expression of unity—of priests with their bishop, and of the entire Church gathered as one family. And as the faithful departed, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened in their faith and reminded of their shared mission in Christ.
