The serene town of Tepa came alive with faith, energy, and youthful enthusiasm as the Goaso Diocesan Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO) successfully held its 5-day Diocesan Jamboree at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
The event, which ran from April 8 to April 12, 2026, brought together over 1,036 young men and women from across the Diocese under the theme: “A Synodal Church at the Service of Justice and Peace in Ghana; the Role of the Crusader.” It was a remarkable gathering that blended spirituality, formation, and community life.
From the outset, the atmosphere was vibrant as participants arrived in high spirits and settled in for days filled with prayer, formation, and fraternal interaction. Eucharistic celebrations formed the heart of the programme, complemented by engaging talk sessions, games, and activities aimed at empowering the youth and deepening their participation in the life of the Church.
The programme was graced by several distinguished personalities, including the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, the Diocesan Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi, and the host Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bismark Appiah Kyeremeh, and his assistant, Fr. Emmanuel Adjei. Also present were V. Rev. Fr. Benjamin Asibuo Kusi, Lawyer Bright Nana Apraku, Snr. Cr. Florence Awaitey, alongside other priests, past diocesan officers, and invited dignitaries.
A major highlight of the gathering was the reception of the West Africa World Youth Day (WAWYD) Cross and the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help from the Obuasi Diocese—a symbolic moment that deepened the connection of the youth to the wider Church in West Africa.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in spiritually enriching and socially engaging activities, including a vocations rally, quotation boxing, the pulpit show, and a choral festival, all of which showcased the talents, faith, and enthusiasm of the young people.
The Jamboree concluded with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass, during which the youth were encouraged to take an active and committed role in Church life. They were commended for their discipline, enthusiasm, and the positive spirit exhibited throughout the programme.
In recognition of outstanding participation, Bechem Deanery emerged as the Overall Best Deanery, while Kenyasi No. 1 Parish was awarded the Most Behaved Parish.
As the curtains fell, the 2026 Goaso Diocesan CYO Jamboree stood as a testament to the vitality of the youth in the Church—young people ready to serve, to lead, and to be true crusaders of justice and peace in Ghana and beyond.
