CATHOLIC EDUCATORS  CALLED TO REFLECT CHRIST’S MISSION IN THE CLASSROOM

On March 22, 2025, teachers from Catholic Private Schools within the Goaso Diocese gathered for their annual retreat at Cornelia Connelly School, Nkaseim. The retreat was facilitated by Rev. Fr. Vincent Kwabena Gyamfi under the theme: "Sharing Your Profession in the Vocation of Others" (Luke 9:28-36).

Fr. Gyamfi drew inspiration from the Transfiguration of Christ, highlighting how Peter, James, and John witnessed Jesus’ divine glory on the mountain. However, instead of fully embracing the deeper meaning of the moment, they focused on building three tents to commemorate the event.

He urged Catholic educators to ensure that the values and spiritual nourishment they receive “on the mountain” (in the Church) are carried into their classrooms. Teachers were reminded that their vocation extends beyond academics—it is a ministry of forming young souls in faith, wisdom, and virtue.

Additionally, Fr. Gyamfi encouraged school leaders to discern the temperaments of their students and assign teachers whose qualities would best nurture their growth. By doing so, Catholic schools can cultivate an environment that reflects Christ’s love, fosters academic excellence, and upholds the mission of the Church in education.

The retreat served as a powerful reminder that Catholic educators in the Goaso Diocese are not just professionals but co-workers in Christ’s vineyard, called to illuminate minds and inspire hearts in service to God and His people.
