A STEP TOWARDS HOPE: FOOTWEAR FOR NEEDY CHILDREN AT ABUOM

The Missionary Childhood Society, the third society of the Pontifical Mission Societies, upholds the motto:  "Children helping children, children praying for children, and children evangelizing children".

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in this Jubilee Year of Hope and as part of Lenten observances, the missionary children dedicated prayers to their fellow children and donated over 100 pairs of footwear to their brothers and sisters at the Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High School in Abuom, located in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.

It is their hope that this donation will bring joy to the children as they prepare for Easter.

The presentation ceremony, held on behalf of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Goaso, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, was attended by the Diocesan Director of PMS, Rev. Fr. Martin Yaw Adjei; the Diocesan Missionary Childhood Coordinator, Sr. Magdalene Kwofie; and the Diocesan Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi. Also present was Rev. Fr. John Mary Appiadu, Parish Priest of Sankore, as well as Mr. Bismark Aziagbedor, a Missionary Animator.

In his welcome address, the Parish Priest of St. Joseph Parish, Abuom, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Baffour Awuah, emphasized the importance of children supporting one another and encouraged the continuation of such missionary activities.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Frank Obiri Yeboah, and the Church President, Mr. Albert Owusu, expressed their joy and appreciation for the generous donation. They also called for more support to help improve the well-being of the children.

This charitable act exemplifies the spirit of the Missionary Childhood Society and reflects the essence of Christian love and solidarity among children.
