A CALL TO SERVICE : GOASO DIOCESAN SACRED HEART OF JESUS CONFRATERNITY GETS NEW LEADERSHIP

The newly elected officers of the Goaso Diocesan Sacred Heart of Jesus Confraternity were officially installed in a solemn ceremony held at the St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral, Goaso during  Mass on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

The main celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Fr. Lawrence Adu-Gyamfi, and the installation was presided over by the National and Diocesan Spiritual Director of the Confraternity, Very. Rev. Fr. Bernard Obeng Gyamfi, which was done on behalf of the Bishop, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene.

Fr. Lawrence in the homily focused on the Christian call to love our enemies, drawing from the biblical account of Saul and David. The preacher highlighted how, despite being pursued and wrongfully accused by King Saul, David chose not to retaliate when given the opportunity. Instead, he demonstrated mercy and respect, recognizing that Saul was anointed by God. This powerful example served as a reminder to the faithful that true discipleship calls for forgiveness, patience, and love even in the face of adversity.

Fr Bernard, after the installation, thanked the outgone officers for their service to the diocese and charged the newly installed officers to engage them to ensure a successful administration. He also called on the old officers to support the new ones.

He further emphasized that the Sacred Heart of Jesus Confraternity is a devotional movement rather than an association. This means that membership is not exclusive or restricted to a select group of individuals, as is often the case with associations that may have specific criteria for joining. Instead, the confraternity is open to all Catholics, as its primary purpose is to promote devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a central aspect of Catholic spirituality. It is an avenue for deepening their faith and fostering a closer relationship with Christ.

In his address, the newly elected President expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and his team, promising to work diligently to uphold the mission of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Confraternity. He called on members to offer their support and prayers for a successful tenure.

The Goaso Diocesan Sacred Heart of Jesus Confraternity continues to play a vital role in deepening the faith of the Catholic community, and the new officers are expected to spearhead initiatives that will further strengthen the organization’s impact across the diocese.
