DOUBLE BLESSING!!

It is very rare for someone to celebrate both silver and golden jubilee anniversaries together in a life time. As for Sr. Dinah it was a milestone in history of her life to celebrate both her silver jubilee in religious vows and her golden birthday. Indeed it was worth celebrating and thanking God for the years chalked in her life. As the whole church observed the Year of consecrated life in 2015, it was so special for Sr. Dinah Ofosu, SSpS to celebrate the goodness and the blessings of the Lord who had called her in an exceptional manner.

The awesome celebration took place at the St. Anthony’s Cathedral on Sunday, December 6, 2015. Sr. Dinah Ofosu celebrated her day by thanking God for His abundant mercies and blessings. Sr. Mercy Margaret Benson, SSpS who is Sr. Dinah’s section mate also joined her to rejoice in the Lord and thanked God for the numerous blessings He has bestowed on them in the last twenty – five years of their religious life.

The Sisters were warmly welcomed by the parishioners who attended the ceremony in their colourful societal uniforms amidst traditional drumming and dancing. Also in attendance was the Bishop of Yendi diocese, Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, SVD and the landlord of Goaso Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Atuahene; the two bishops graced the occasion as the homilist and main celebrant respectively. Other dignitaries included Msgr. Anthony Boahen Kyeremeh, Cathedral Administrator, and Very Rev. Fr. James Kwadwo Owusu, Superior of the SMA congregation in Ghana, Rev. Fr. Bernard Blolong SVD. Also in attendance were the Missionary Sisters, Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), family members, friends and well-wishers.

In his homily, Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, SVD stressed on the fact that we are called each day by God to be His witnesses at all times and also to be happy people appreciating what is good. “We have to prepare the way of the Lord. Today in our societies, there are so many structures that have to be pulled down. In straightening our path,” he continued, “let us move into our world today and be just people bringing justice and liberation to the people where necessary.” He concluded by emphasizing that the celebrating Sisters should never think of their vocation as a waste of womanhood but always remember that giving to God means total dedication and sacrifice. The celebration ended with a reception at the Diocesan Pastoral centre in Goaso where all visitors ate to their satisfaction.  Family and friends showed their appreciations in giving tokens and gifts to the Jubilarians.

As we enter into the Jubilee Year of Mercy, we pray that Sr. Dinah will continue to share her gifts of compassion and wisdom with those she serves and in her ministry as a leader in the Province. May her heart overflow with the love of the Triune God as she continues to be a role model, a faithful and dedicated Missionary Servant of the Holy Spirit.
